Availability, not price, is the hard part. Check stock before you travel across town.
- Best bet for stock: Large camera retailers in Shinjuku, plus specialist new/used dealers such as Map Camera and Fujiya Camera (Nakano).
- Consider used: Japan's used camera market is large and well graded. A lightly used body can be the fastest way to get one.
- Watch out: Fujifilm sells this model at open price, so there is no single "official" price to compare against. Compare several stores on the same day.
Japan's tax-free system changes on 1 November 2026
From 1 November 2026, visitors pay the full price including 10% consumption tax at the store. The tax is refunded after customs confirms at departure (airport or seaport) that the goods are leaving Japan, within 90 days of purchase. The minimum is ¥5,000 before tax per store. Refund methods and timing depend on the store, so ask at checkout and keep your receipts.
